Therapies & Nursing

Physical, occupational, and speech therapies

The primary goal of West View Manor's team of registered therapists and assistants is to maximize a person's mobility, functionality and verbal expression.

Medically prescribed therapy treatments assist people whose functions are impaired through disease or health changes. The objective is to help individuals reach his or her maximum functionality, and care programs are designed for each individual. A program may include exercises to increase strength, mobility, walking and transferring, pain management, and neuromuscular reeducation.

Occupational therapists and assistants help residents improve normal activities of daily living (ADL) and to help individuals to adapt to changes in living due to health problems. Therapists and residents may work on fine motor skills, home management, and adaptive equipment identification.

Speech therapy programs are often needed following a stroke. Therapist and resident work on verbal expression and comprehension, reading and writing skills, swallowing exercises, and maximizing communication skills.

Nursing

Nurses and nursing staff at West View Manor take great pride in delivering quality, compassionate care to residents. In a Medicare compare search (www.medicare.gov/nhcompare/Search/topic), West View Manor provided information for ten quality measures, and there were no deficiencies cited. The average number of nursing staff hours per resident per day is 4.95 hours. This means you or your loved one recieves an average of nearly five hours of personal attention daily, and therefore, translates into a greater comfort level. Some residents may require more care; West View provides whatever is necessary.

All staff are required to be CPR certified, and all attend regular quality control seminars. A certified registered nurse serves as the Director of Nursing, and we offer on-site licensed nursing services 24/7. Our physician Medical Director is Wayne County's only certified gerontologist.

A recent Ohio government survey of residents and family members rated West View at 95.8. The state average is 87.4. Again, this statistic means that a high percentage of residents and family are satisfied with the care of West View Manor.
